Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) is pleased to announce the 2 organizations that have been awarded funding for the initial period of performance as the Advancing Recovery in Tribal Communities (ARC) subrecipients. A total of $1,000,000 has been approved to be distributed across 3 years by the Illinois Opioid Remediation Advisory Board (IORAB) for ARC services in the state of Illinois.
The goal of the program is to address the unmet substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery needs of Illinois Tribal communities affected by the opioid crisis by achieving the following objectives:
- Increasing access to opioid use disorder (OUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
- Develop a workforce, including people with lived experience, to provide these services.
- Increase access to medication-assisted recovery (MAR) for OUD or alcohol use disorder (AUD).
Subaward funding will be used to:
- Develop the program, including hiring and training the workforce;
- Deliver culturally tailored prevention, treatment, and recovery services;
- Engage the community, including youth and elders; and
- Plan for making the services sustainable.
The ARC subrecipients:
Statewide – Chestnut offers a comprehensive scope of behavioral health and human services in Illinois and Missouri. From drug and alcohol addiction treatment facilities and primary care medical homes to a research institute, Chestnut continuously works to achieve its mission to improve quality of life through excellence in service.
Trickster Art Gallery (Trickster Cultural Center)
Bellwood, West Chicago, Rockford – The Trickster Cultural Center is a registered nonprofit 501c3 Native American and community arts center that also serves Native American veterans and their needs. The center’s mission is to increase the visibility of Native American traditions, Veteran contributions, and contemporary cultural arts, through community engagement, social advocacy, and collaborative education.

AHP administers the Regional Care Coordination Agency (RCCA) grant (CSFA 444-42-3916). This subaward depends on the availability of funding for the Illinois Opioid Remediation State Trust Fund through the Illinois Department of Health Services (IDHS), for the express purpose herein.
